Experience is the best teacher. Here’s four of the life lessons we’ve learned at US Lending over the past 20 years of being in business.

Don’t Take Shortcuts

In order to have long-term success, you have to be a company that’s built to last. That means always doing the right thing, and not settling for any shortcuts. Cutting corners today will damage your reputation and be something that catches up to you down the road tomorrow.

Over the years, other lending companies in Redding have come and gone. Newcomers look for quick and flashy ways to make money, but they haven’t taken the time to build the foundation of their business. Rushing growth doesn’t work if you want to establish a company that’s going to have success for 20 years or more.

At US Lending, we’ve worked hard to achieve the level of excellence that has become our reputation. When it comes to a life decision as big as buying a home, people want to work with someone they can trust. That’s why whenever we say we are going to do something, we do it with integrity.

There will be times when you have to make tough decisions–like choosing to value people over profit. But every time you choose to do the right thing, it’s like making a deposit into your brand’s reputation. You’ll be rewarded down the road.

Focus on the Future

Something that has brought us success at US Lending is focusing on the future. It’s important to ask yourself, where do you want to be 5 years from now? And 10 years from now? Keeping your vision in front of you will help you stay motivated, and also unites your team around a common mission. We often remind ourselves of our vision statement:

To become the largest lending company in Northern California while supporting one another as a family.

But our future plans are also bigger than just our company–we’re only one piece that’s contributing to the Redding community. It takes years, even decades to transform a city. But we want to do our part to make Redding a better place to live 10 years from now.

Value Your Team

From what started as a one-man operation, US Lending has grown into a three-story building with 30+ employees. And we want to make sure that everyone who walks into our office feels appreciated.

This starts with our staff. We want to train people well enough so they can leave, but treat them well enough so they don’t want to. Sadly, other companies allow the opposite to happen. People leave because they feel unappreciated and uncared for, or they feel stagnant and are no longer learning anything new.
